Sick Pet Visits
Having a sick pet is stressful enough as it is. When your dog or cat is feeling under the weather, the last thing you want to do is cause additional anxiety by transporting him or her to a veterinary clinic. With Signature Veterinary Services, we bring the clinic to you.
When to Schedule an Appointment for Your Sick Pet
The following symptoms and behavioral changes can indicate illness in cats and dogs:
- Appetite loss
- Excessive thirst
- Signs of pain (reluctance to move, excessive vocalization, or whimpering)
- Unexplained weight gain or loss
- Lethargy
- Lack of bowel movements
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Limping or lameness
- Dizziness/instability or loss of coordination
- Oral discomfort
- Skin problems (hotspots, itching, rashes, or scabbing)
- Hair loss or bald spots
- Eye, nose, or ear problems
Pets often instinctively mask signs of illness. As a result, it can sometimes be difficult to recognize when your cat or dog is sick. In fact, even slight behavioral changes can indicate illness. You know your pet best. If you notice any changes in your pet’s behavior, habits, and/or appearance, we recommend scheduling an appointment as soon as possible.
Is Your Pet's Illness or Injury a Medical Emergency?
Seek immediate veterinary care if your pet is experiencing any of the following:
- Traumatic injury
- Difficulty breathing
- Uncontrolled bleeding
- Hyperthermia (heat stroke)
- Ingestion of a poisonous substance
- Persistent seizures
- Loss of consciousness
If you suspect your pet might be having a medical emergency, see our emergency page for a list of nearby reputable emergency animal hospitals.
